HOSPICE HEART STORIES

Held Through the Hardest Days

My mom, Alma, spent her life bringing people together, whether as a teacher or by founding a community choir that continues today. During her final journey with cancer, Chatham-Kent Hospice gave our family the gift of compassionate care, comfort, and support. From celebrating her 87th birthday to the simple kindness of shared meals and grief counselling, Hospice cared for all of us, allowing me to focus on being with my mom. I will always be grateful for the community and compassion that carried us through the hardest days.

What Your Donations Are Used For:

The chart below gives you an idea of the other expenses we must cover from fundraising revenue.

  • Residential Hospice Care

Your donation will help cover the cost of things like personal care products, medical equipment, groceries, utilities and other supplies for our residents who call Hospice home.

  • End-of-Life Care Coordination

Navigating the health care system can be hard. Your donation will help connect people to local services at the time of diagnosis. This can include in-home supports or, eventually, residential hospice care.

  • Grief & Bereavement Support

Support of care for residents, their loved ones, and the CK Community in the form of one-on-one, group counselling by registered social workers, spiritual care, and music therapy.

  • Education and Awareness

Ongoing staff and volunteer training ensures the highest level of care. Sharing our work with the community lets people know we are there to support them in their time of need.

  • Business as Usual

Although we want our hospice to feel like home to our residents, and be a refuge for those grieving, we must operate as a business. Your donation will cover costs such as accounting, human resources, purchasing, office equipment, supplies and insurance.

  • Volunteers

To make the most of your donation we support a robust volunteer program that includes orientation, ongoing training, support and appreciation.
