Absolutely! This tournament is meant to be fun while raising essential funds for hospice care in Chatham-Kent. Players of all skill levels are welcome to join us in this exciting new event!

As this Tournament is based on two-player teams, you do need to be part of a team to play in Cornhole for Hospice. However, if you cannot find a teammate, we are happy to help! Please contact Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation at foundation@chathamkenthospice.com and if another player is interested in registering as an individual, we’ll pair you up!

Yes, there is a registration fee.

$150 Earliest bird team registration (until February 28, 2025)

$175 Early bird team registration (until December 31, 2025)

$200 Regular team registration (after December 31, 2025)

In addition to the registration fee, we encourage players to collect pledges to further support end-of-life care provided at Chatham-Kent Hospice. For every $100 in pledges raised, each team member will receive a ballot to win a set of custom cornhole boards with bags valued at $650!

You don't have to raise pledges in addition to your registration fee. However, there are incentives for collecting pledges and the more pledges you collect, the better your chances of winning a prize.

There is a prize for top fundraiser and, for every $100 in pledges that your team collects, you and your teammate will each receive a ballot to be entered into a draw for a set of custom cornhole boards valued at $650!

So, although you don't have to collect pledges, Cornhole for Hospice is a fundraiser and collecting pledges ensures that the event raises the funds necessary for Hospice to continue to offer its services at no cost to Hospice families.

Yes! Donations/pledges of $10 or more are eligible for an income tax receipt as long as Hospice receives the donor’s full name and address. Receipts will be mailed to donors after the event date.

Donation made through RaceRoster will automatically receive a tax receipt. Donations collected offline can be tracked in our downloadable pledge sheet available here.

We will be stopping play around 12:30 for all players to enjoy lunch. We will reach out to you closer to the tournament for your meal choice and to confirm if you have any dietary restrictions.

In addition to the lunch for players, the bar will be open with a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There will also be pre-packaged snacks available for purchase.

Please note, the John D. Bradley Centre has gone cashless and will only accept card payments for beverage and snack purchases.

Custom Cornhole boards valued at $650 – winner will be selected by random draw of ballots. Teams will receive two ballots for every $100 in pledges collected. This draw is only open to registered players.

Team Spirit Award

Air Mail is a common side competition at many cornhole tournaments. Here's how it works:

$10 entry per player

Round 1 - All players get 4 bags, if you get one into the hole you move onto Round 2

Round 2 - All players get 3 bags, if you get one into the hole you move onto Round 3

Round 3 - All players get 2 bags, if you get one into the hole you move onto Round 4

Round 4 - All players get 1 bag, if more than one player successfully tosses the bag into the hole the round is repeated with the successful players until there is a winner.

The winner receives half of the entry money for the Air Mail competition as their prize.

Scoring for each round takes place after each team has thrown all four bags.

Teams receive 1 point for each bag on the board and 3 points for each bag that went in the hole. Cornhole is scored by cancelation scoring, meaning you receive the points your team scores minus your opponent’s points. For example, if Team #1 has two bags on the board and one bag went in the hole, and Team #2 has one bag on the board, then Team #1 will score 4 points on that round.

Bags are disqualified if they hit the ground before landing on the board or if the bag is on the board but touching the ground. If a bag gets knocked off the board during play, it is disqualified.

You will play at least four or five games.

First, teams will play in a random round robin. After the round robin, players will be divided into two brackets

Pool A will play at least two more games in a double elimination tournament.

Pool B will play at least one more game in a single elimination tournament.

The winner of each bracket will receive a prize.

All money raised through Cornhole for Hospice will stay in Chatham-Kent and go towards providing Hospice care and grief support in our community.

Your support makes a big difference to our families. You help provide meals to residents and snacks to visitors. Hospice relies on ongoing donations to cover expenses not covered by government funding. Approximately 50% of our operating costs are covered by donations. You keep the residents comfortable and cared for in their final days.

Maximizing every dollar donated is our priority. We do this by utilizing more than 175 volunteers in a variety of roles.
